Preparation time: 10 minutes
Sweet, in-season strawberries need nothing more than slicing and eating. This recipe uses orange juice and a touch of brown sugar to help the berries become even juicier. Enjoy as they are or spooned over low-fat yogurt.
Ingredients
1 pint fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon fresh orange zest (optional)
Wash, stem and cut strawberries in half. Place strawberries in a large mixing bowl, set aside.
In a small bowl stir together the orange juice, brown sugar, and orange zest (if using). Pour orange juice mixture over the strawberries and gently mix until strawberries are coated.
Refrigerate until ready to serve. Can be prepared 1 day in advance.
