Night with the Chef at Eagleridge Elementary, Ferndale, May 15:

Ferndale School District and Sodexo School Services are proud to sponsor Night of the Chefs.

On Wednesday, May 15, two visiting chefs will meet with parents to talk about preparing nutritious and delicious meals on a budget. The free event, open to parents throughout the Ferndale School District, will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Eagleridge Elementary School, and will include a cooking demonstration and sample tasting. Chefs Dave Williams and Monica Oaks will spotlight healthy, affordable recipes that families can make at home.

About Chef Dave Williams

Chef Dave Williams graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (New York, N.Y.) in 1990 after growing up in the food service industry. He is Sodexo School Services Western Region Executive Chef for K-12 schools. A 1990 graduate of New York’s Culinary Institute of America, Williams has worked with Sodexo School Services for seven years, during which he observed what he calls a “climate change in school food service” – a shift from traditional meals to health-based, varied, and ethnically-influenced dishes. Before coming to Sodexo School Services, Williams worked from coast to coast in food service operations ranging from restaurants and hotels to rock ‘n’ roll tours. He now lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and young daughter.

Chef Monica Oaks is a Lake Washington culinary arts instructor. She grew up in Terrace Heights, Yakima, and holds degrees in advertising arts and culinary arts.
